Pre-employment screening
Background Verification (BGV) and Screening
Background verification confirms a candidate's identity, employment history, education, credentials and criminal record before they start. TalentStores orders and tracks checks through accredited screening partners and keeps the results attached to the hire.

How it works
Screening packages are configured per role and country — an engineer in Germany and a finance controller in the United States need different checks, and running the maximum everywhere is slow and expensive. You define packages once, and the right one attaches automatically when a candidate reaches the offer stage.
The candidate consents and submits documents directly through a secure portal. Checks are then executed by accredited verification partners in our vetted ecosystem; TalentStores does not perform investigations itself. Every check shows live status — submitted, in progress, verifier unresponsive, complete — so recruiters stop chasing a black box by email.
Discrepancies are handled as a workflow, not an exception. A mismatch raises an adjudication task with the evidence, a defined reviewer, a candidate right-to-explain step and a recorded decision. Completed reports attach to the candidate record with role-based access and a retention clock that matches local data rules.

Frequently asked questions
Who actually performs the background checks?
Accredited screening providers in our vetted partner ecosystem. TalentStores does not conduct investigations. We handle package configuration, candidate consent, order routing, status tracking, adjudication workflow and secure storage of the result.
How long does a background check take?
Identity and database checks often complete within a day. Employment and education verification depends on how quickly the previous employer or institution responds and typically takes three to ten business days. The platform shows which specific check is holding the report.
Is candidate consent handled properly?
Yes. Consent is captured before any check is ordered, with the scope of checks, the partner performing them and the retention period disclosed. Candidates can see their own report status and raise a correction through the same portal.
Can we run checks on contractors and contingent workers?
Yes. Screening packages can be attached to contingent assignments as well as permanent offers, including lighter re-verification for returning contractors so you are not paying for a full package on someone you screened last quarter.
