Contractor Payments and Compliance
Contractor payment and compliance covers onboarding independent workers, classifying them correctly, collecting tax forms and paying them across borders. TalentStores automates the paperwork and payouts, with classification review supported by our vetted partner ecosystem.

How it works
A contractor is invited by email and completes onboarding themselves: identity verification, tax form (W-9, W-8BEN or local equivalent), payout method and a countersigned agreement generated from a template appropriate to their country. Nothing sits in a shared inbox.
Before work starts, TalentOS runs a misclassification screen. It scores the engagement against the tests that actually apply locally — control over hours, exclusivity, integration into the team, provision of equipment, duration — and flags engagements that look like disguised employment. Where the risk is real, the platform shows the conversion path to EOR through our partner ecosystem rather than leaving you exposed.
Payment runs on approved milestones, timesheets or fixed retainers. Contractors invoice or are self-billed, approvals route to the budget owner, and payouts execute in over 100 currencies in one batch with fees and FX shown per payment.

Frequently asked questions
What is contractor misclassification and why does it matter?
Misclassification is treating someone as an independent contractor when local law considers them an employee. Consequences include back taxes, unpaid social contributions, penalties and retroactive benefit claims. TalentStores scores every engagement and surfaces the risk before it compounds.
How quickly do contractors get paid?
Once an invoice or milestone is approved, most corridors settle within one to three business days. The platform shows the expected settlement window and the payout rail before you approve, so contractors are not guessing.
Can contractors invoice in their own currency?
Yes. Contractors set their payout currency and method during onboarding. You fund in your base currency and the platform shows the FX rate and fee applied to each payment leg rather than burying it in a blended rate.
What happens if a contractor should be an employee?
The platform flags it, quantifies the exposure and offers conversion to employment through a licensed EOR partner in the country. TalentStores does not employ the worker itself — the partner entity does, and the transition keeps the same work and manager.
