Why hire in Poland
Poland is Europe's most established nearshore engineering market: a large, well-trained developer population in Kraków, Warsaw, Wrocław and Gdańsk, EU legal framework, and costs materially below Western Europe for the same seniority.
The decision that matters is contract type. A labour code employment contract carries full statutory protection and around 20% employer ZUS contributions; the widely used B2B contractor model is cheaper but carries reclassification risk if the working relationship looks like employment. An EOR partner runs a compliant employment contract so the question is settled.
Nearshore engineering depth
One of Europe's largest developer populations, with strong Java, .NET, cloud and data engineering supply.
EU framework
Single-market employment and data rules that European customers already accept.
Cost advantage in-region
Total cost well below Germany, the Nordics or the UK for equivalent seniority.
No Polish entity
Skip KRS registration, ZUS employer setup and Polish accounting obligations.
Correct contract type
Labour code employment rather than a B2B arrangement that risks reclassification.
Time-zone fit
Central European hours overlapping the UK, EU and the US East Coast morning.
Compliance and statutory requirements in Poland
Leave and holiday entitlements, social security, termination rules and payroll cadence — the obligations your employment partner carries on your behalf.
Paid leave
Twenty days annual leave under ten years of combined service and education credit, twenty-six days thereafter — most professionals reach twenty-six quickly.
Public holidays
Thirteen public holidays a year, with a substitute day when one falls on a Saturday.
Social security contributions
Employer ZUS of roughly 20% of gross salary covering pension, disability, accident and labour fund contributions.
Sick pay
Employer pays 80% of salary for the first 33 days of illness per year (14 days for employees over 50), then ZUS takes over.
Termination rules
Notice from two weeks to three months by service, written justification required for indefinite contracts, and trade union consultation where one exists.
Payroll cycle
Monthly, paid by the tenth of the following month at the latest, with PIT advance and ZUS remitted monthly.
Cost of employment in Poland
Salary is only part of the number. These are the components that make up fully loaded cost, all modelled in PLN before you extend an offer.
Gross salary
Quoted monthly gross; Polish candidates often compare against a B2B net rate, so the platform shows both views.
Employer ZUS
Approximately 20% of gross salary, including a variable accident insurance rate.
Employee Capital Plans (PPK)
1.5% employer contribution where the employee does not opt out.
Sick-pay exposure
Employer-funded 80% salary for the first 33 sick days per year.
Benefits
Private medical and a sports card are near-universal expectations, at modest monthly cost.
EOR and platform fee
Per-employee partner fee plus the TalentStores orchestration fee, quoted separately.
How TalentStores and the partner network deliver it
TalentStores is not the employer of record. We are the orchestration layer that selects, contracts and manages the licensed employment partner in Poland — and gives you one system of record across every country you hire in.
Partner matched, not assumed
We match your role and headcount to vetted employment partners licensed in Poland, and show you the fee, coverage and service levels side by side before you commit.
One contract, one platform
You contract with TalentStores. Partner agreements, employment contracts and amendments are generated, signed and stored against the employee record.
Cost modelled before offer
Statutory contributions, mandatory benefits, accruals and partner fees are calculated up front, so the offer you approve is the cost you actually carry.
Onboarding orchestrated
Document collection, background checks, registrations and start-date readiness run as a tracked workflow instead of an email thread.
Payroll and settlement in one bill
Every partner invoice flows through the commercial engine, reconciled per employee and settled on a single consolidated bill.
Compliance monitored continuously
Statutory changes in Poland are pushed by the partner network and reflected in your cost model and contracts, not discovered at audit.
EOR in Poland: frequently asked questions
Should we hire in Poland on B2B or an employment contract?
B2B is common and cheaper, but if the person works fixed hours under your direction with no other clients, reclassification risk is real and the liability lands on you. An EOR labour code contract removes the question.
What is the employer cost above gross salary in Poland?
Around 20% in ZUS contributions plus PPK where applicable, before benefits. Sick pay for the first 33 days each year is an additional employer-funded exposure.
How much annual leave do Polish employees get?
Twenty or twenty-six days depending on combined work and education seniority. Most professionals qualify for twenty-six days early in their career.
How long does Polish onboarding take?
Five to ten business days once the contract is signed and the pre-employment medical is complete. Polish notice periods of one to three months usually govern the real start date.
Do we need to provide contracts in Polish?
Employment contracts are issued in Polish, commonly as a bilingual document. The partner supplies the compliant template and the platform stores both versions on the employee record.
